Glendora Country Club, 2400 Country Club Drive, Glendora CA

DocWalks4Animals will be holding its
3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, September 18, 2023 at the Glendora Country Club!

Proceeds will go to the California Wildlife Center to help animals affected by the recent storms.

California Wildlife Center takes responsibility for the protection of native wildlife through rehabilitation, education, and conservation. It is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of native California species, who otherwise would be left to suffer from the effects of human encroachment, habitat destruction and environmental damage.

More information about the Tournament will be posted here soon!

About Dr. Monica and DocWalks4Animals

Monica Metzdorf is a Pediatric Urologist in Los Angeles. She is passionate about her work and devotes her time to helping make the lives of children better. Her young patients call her “Dr. Monica”.

When the COVID Pandemic started, Dr. Monica, like many of us, was feeling overwhelmed by the daily deluge of “Bad News” and was reminded of something “Scoop” Nisker used to say:

“If you don’t like the news … go out and make some of your own!”

Wes (“Scoop”) Nisker – radio commentator on the San Francisco radio station KSAN in the late 60’s and 70’s, and later on KFOG.

The COVID19 crisis and the resulting plight of the zoos gave her an idea to raise money for zoo and aquarium animals affected by the lockdowns: In May 2020, she set out on a solo walk across Southern California. She walked from the Los Angeles Zoo to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach then on to the San Diego Safari Park in Escondido – a distance of 129. 1 miles!
You can find out more about the “The Walk that Started it All” here.

Her campaign dubbed “docwalks4animals” was a great success and has inspired the founding of this official nonprofit organization to continue her mission of raising awareness and funds for wildlife and environmental conservation projects.

Since founding the non-profit organization “DocWalks4Animals.org” Dr. Monica has continued to raise money for wildlife and conservation in a new way: by combining her passion for animals and her passion for golf!

In 2021, DocWalks4Animals held its Inaugural golf tournament a Chevy Chase Country Club.  It was a great event, with fun golf, great food and wonderful silent auction items. That event raised $30,000 for local wildlife programs.

Last year, in September 2022, two LPGA Champions participated in the 2nd Annual DocWalks4Animals Golf Tournament which was held at Brookside Golf Course, near the famous Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA!

September 2022: Ilhee Lee and Mo Martin participated in DocWalks4Animals’ 2nd Annual Golf Tournament

Mo Martin, 2014 Women’s British Open Champion, and Ilhee Lee, 2013 Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic Champion, led the field of 72 golfers in the Second Annual DocWalks4Animals Golf Tournament at Brookside Golf Club.  These LPGA Champions put on a clinic for the foursomes fortunate enough to win an opportunity to play nine holes with them. Ilhee and Mo demonstrated the skills that made them champions.
